These answers explain general rules, not legal advice for your situation. For anything tied to your own contract or claim, check the cited statute or ask the office named in the answer.
Is this site a roofing company?
No. Roof Replacement Fuquay-Varina NC is a referral service. We pass your request to one independent local roofer, who handles the inspection, the estimate and any work you agree to. We don't employ roofers, install roofs or carry out repairs. The roofer you meet runs their own business and answers for their own work.
What do I pay to use this service?
Nothing. Roofers pay this site a fee when we refer a homeowner to them, so the inspection and written estimate are free on your end. We never give homeowners rewards, rebates or credits for using the site. You pay only for roofing work you decide to hire a roofer to do.
Will I need a building permit for a new roof in Fuquay-Varina?
Maybe not. North Carolina's G.S. 143-138(b5) lets work on a single-family home costing $40,000 or less skip the permit unless it involves certain items, such as added roof area or load-bearing structure. State Fire Marshal guidance reads that as covering a re-roof replacing no more than 15% of the deck. Within town limits, permits go through the Town's Inspections Department (919-552-1433) and its E-Permits portal. Have your roofer confirm and pull any permit needed.
How do I check a roofer's license in North Carolina?
The state has no roofer-only license. If your job costs $40,000 or more, G.S. 87-1 calls for a licensed General Contractor, and you can look the company up with the NC Licensing Board for General Contractors. Board rule 21 NCAC 12A .0501 says the license number belongs on the contract and bid. For any job, ask for insurance proof and references.
Can I cancel a roof contract if my insurer denies the claim?
Often, yes. Since October 1, 2024, G.S. 14-401.13 gives five business days to cancel a residential roof contract signed at your home after an insurance denial for that work. Until those days pass, the roofer can't begin or collect payment. Emergency work you approved in writing to stop further damage may be billed when done. Breaking this rule is a Class 1 misdemeanor.
What if I signed a roofing contract at my front door?
Under the same statute, G.S. 14-401.13, a contract you sign at home, away from the seller's place of business, must include a notice of your right to cancel within three business days. The notice belongs near your signature line or on the front page. If it's missing, that's a warning sign worth taking seriously.
A roofer offered to cover my deductible. Is that a problem?
North Carolina has no law against it. A 2023 bill that would have banned the practice did not pass. Even so, treat the offer as a red flag. A roofer who absorbs your deductible may be padding the claim to make up the difference, and that puts you in an awkward spot with your insurer.
Can a roofer negotiate my insurance claim?
No. Under G.S. 58-33A-10, only a licensed public adjuster may act for you on a claim. Your roofer's job is to inspect, photograph and price the damage. Agreeing on the payout is between you and your insurance company. This site does not get involved in claims at all.
How much does a roof replacement cost around Fuquay-Varina?
This Old House puts a typical North Carolina re-roof at about $7,653 in 2026. HomeBlue's 2024 cost model for the Raleigh area runs $4 to $6 per square foot for shingles and $7 to $11 for metal. Your price depends on roof size, pitch, material and decking repairs, so an inspection is the only way to pin it down.
Are there grants for a new roof in Fuquay-Varina?
No general roof grant applies here. North Carolina's Strengthen Your Coastal Roof grants cover only 18 coastal counties, and Wake, Harnett and Johnston aren't among them. Be wary of anyone who promises a grant or an insurance discount as part of a sales pitch.
